New approaches

New consumers

How can our daily activities have any impact? First of all we can become conscious consumers. In recent years a new type of consumers has shown up, the LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability). They have become trend setters, influencing other market segments and the general way of thinking. Some see in them a sign of a change of values in society.

Commercials and advertisements do not appeal to these conscious consumers. They actively choose what they need and want to know where the product comes from and how it was made. Most of all they wonder whether they actually need anything at all. And when they decide in favour of a product, they prefer something that is ecologically and socially well made, has a long life and can be repaired.

In the area of food people of the same region get together to support farms in the area that provide healthy vegetables and fruit during all seasons (CSA=Community Supported Agriculture). Eating has become a political decision.
